Random things

We were about ready to eat supper together (we do that sometimes now if Jay and I can wait long enough for John to come home) and John was finishing watching a Tebow video on YouTube. Once we started eating, Jay - who normally says "moor peas" (more peas) or "moor neese" (more cheese) said: "moor Teebow?"Jay will randomly break into songs of da-da-da-da..-da-da-da and it is really cute!

I finally have a theme idea for the nursery (at 28 weeks pregnant). I think we are going to go with a music theme, and I am still deciding the color scheme. It is between this:
and this:

IF I can actually get this material.

Has anyone ever had 2 baby monitors in their house at once? Did it work?
We hope to have Jay successfully switched over to his big boy bed before the baby comes so he would be able to open the door by himself to come get us if he would need to, but I think it would also be nice to hear if he is sleeping or not. We don't have a big house, but I have BAD hearing, and the doors really do keep a lot of the noise out. Even if the baby is sleeping right next to me in the bassinet I still want him (baby) to have the monitor on because we have an angel care monitor that senses movement of them breathing...and helps ME sleep much better. Just thinking about random things that I probably don't need to be worrying about.

Remind me never to: figure out flex benefits, work on taxes, re-finance the house, and decide on new insurance in the same month again. Too many numbers!

Jay is so stubborn right now. He HATES to get in his car seat most of the time, and when he is tired I have to FORCE his butt in and hold him there for a bit before I can attempt to buckle him in. He is a pretty good sport every where we go, and enjoys talking to people and checking everything out. Occasionally I carry him out by his waist while he is kicking and flailing his arms, but not for lack of trying to reason with him. (The last place it happened was the McDonald's play place).

I am happy with how well I have been able to manage Jay when I am with him all day. I am still lifting him (although I probably shouldn't be at this stage in pregnancy) and we have a lot of fun together (especially when I get to take a nap when he does).

I tried "Five Guys Burgers" for the first time tonight. It was a delicious burger that I should only have once every very-so-often because it is probably horrible for you:)

While Jay and I were gone for the afternoon-early evening, after he got home from work, John cleaned the entire house including vaccuming, dishes and toilets. I was SOOO happy.

I love Pintrest for organizing all my boys room ideas!
Jay is looking a little more like John every day. Here is a picture from Christmas time with John holding Jay. Notice the picture of John when he was 3 in the background.

Well, the time is approaching 9pm, so I should be approaching BED so I can function tomorrow.

Monkey's Adventures

Jay has always loved his monkey, but since he was about 13 months it has been one of the most important things in his life. This month monkey became part of a few routines occasionally.
Some days jay feeds monkey some lunch before he eats lunch.
Occasionally Monkey and baby are buds.
Monkey MUST be in his crib in order for him to sleep and sometimes Monkey gets hugs during sleep.
Monkey has also been getting his diaper changed by Jay and I before Jay gets his diaper changed. Actually, Jay said Pe-pee today, pointed to his butt and then bent over slightly and grunted (and pooped). I think sitting on his potty when mommy goes potty has been helping him learn what that means. If he didn't get off the potty after 30 seconds I would think a bit more seriously about potty training.
Monkey gets lots of love around this house:)

Bounce with Uncle Chad

Uncle Chad came over for a while on Saturday (Jay can say "un co cha" and it is cute!) and we had fun.
He showed us his new camera and took some pictures of Jay.

Then after some coffee and a burrito we headed to Bounce...the bouncy castle place for kids. It was nice because Chad could get in the castles with Jay if he was too little to do things by himself, or if he was tough enough to brave it alone he could:)
Thanks for coming Chad!

Mr. Attitude

When mommy doesn't cut you enough slices of cheese, grab the chunk of cheese and take what you want.

Or when Banana slices just aren't cutting it, grab the whole banana and start eating it like the big people too.
Yeah, that's more like it:)

Happy Valentines Day.

I know I blogged yesterday, but I was excited to show off this valentines day treat I made.
Carmel Rice Crispie Treats in the shape of hearts...with sprinkles.
It looks like something you would see on Pintrest, but I came up with it myself.
Here is some that I put in muffin tins.
It is kind of messy during the creation.
Then I wrapped them up in red plastic wrap I got during an after-christmas clearance sale.
Here are the leftovers:

Happenings this week

Well, Jay has been sick this weekend with a fever, a slight cough and a runny nose. Saturday was pretty miserable and Sunday he just got sick of it all and really wanted to go "bye-bye".
Here is him actually sitting down to watch part of a movie (I got out Finding Nemo).
Grandma watched him on Monday, and we have some great pictures from that day too. Here is a quick preview:
Monkey (his lovey) got a "bath" in the "wah-hee" (laundry) today:) It was amusing to see Jay's reaction as monkey went into the washing machine and he couldn't play with him. First he thought it was funny for monkey to get his head wet. Then he started whimpering and asking for him. He did not take a nap without him, and when he noticed him on the drying rack above a register an hour later, he was so happy...and I ended up blow drying monkey the rest of the way dry so Jay could play with him again. Monkey has also had several diaper changes, plenty of sips of water, and has had his temperature taken plenty of times the last few days.

I have been forced to stay home all day Saturday and Sunday with a sick darling (until John got home from work at 4:30) and I snuck out to Target to get groceries and a prescription. Therefore I have gotten a bit of cleaning done (not near enough) and I have made butterscotch cookies, Stromboli, and pop'n'fresh BBQ cups. It has been so nice to have time to cook food and enjoy it. When I got groceries tonight I wasn't even stingy and bought things that I could make meals and snacks with because it meant I would be happy and full (which is very good for a pregnant mommy with a sick kid).

I wish I could WORK on computer stuff while I am home with Jay, but every time I sit down at the computer for longer than 2 min. Jay wants to sit on my lap and color, or play the "uh,uh" game, or watch "A,B,C" or "babychoochoo" videos.
He is a very big "hep" in the kitchen. He helps me pour in the flour and the chips, he pounds and rolls the dough for me, and loves stirring anything!

My back has hurt more this week, and If I had any time at all, I might think about going to a chiropractor, but I can't think of a day or week when that would even work.
I am kind of tired this weekend too, because I have gotten up in the middle of the night with Jay. I don't really mind the middle of the night though, as long as I can get back to sleep.

I have struggled with wanting to be at work because there are lots of things going on that I need to be there for, and being home with Jay because he is sick. We have never really had this issue before, because John was a stay-at-home dad last winter. I guess the hardest part is that he rarely acts sick. The runny nose this weekend is enough to keep him home and not have anyone else have to deal with it though. I wish it were warmer so we could go outside and play. Neither one of us is good at sitting in the house all day. I need to pull up some of those "activities for kids" websites from pintrest so I can keep us both entertained.
Here is what we did on Friday:

Grr.. no sound. No time to fix it now.
That's about all my ranting for today.

19 months (jay) and 24 weeks (me)

19 months
Jay is now 19 months old and he is changing every day. He learns a new word every other day and now says: applesauce, tebow, orange, more milk, bye-bye see-ya, balloon, peas, straw, and other words I can't think of right now.
He loves to dance to music and is pretty cute when dancing. He also likes to jump up and spin in circles until he is dizzy.
Coloring and skyping with grandma help the time go by too.
He is really enjoying a Veggie Tales sing-a-long DVD we are borrowing from a friend.

Because I am working full time I really appreciate how cute he is and how funny he is. I love watching him kick his feet in his car seat, point to things in books, and give me cheesy smiles just for fun. I love how attached he is to monkey, and how snacks and baths will always put him in a good mood. I don't mind the occasional battles when coming in (from outside), getting in the car seat, or not getting candy because I am not dealing with them all the time.

He was really easy to understand "yeah" (shaking his head violently up and down), or "no-no" until 2 days ago when he came up with the word "yeahoo". WHAT does that mean?

24 weeks (25 tomorrow).
I went to the doctor this week and they said I had only gained 2 lbs since my last appointment. That is great news because I feel like a whale already, and I was afraid I was gaining too much weight.
Size of baby: I am measuring at 25 weeks (at 24 weeks) so I’m assuming the baby is growing great!

Cravings: Cookies (with frosting on them), hearty main dishes, doughnuts (I only had one but it was soo delicious), raisin bread with cheese, yogurt with granola, pina colada starburst.

What I love: Sleeping a little better this week, not as many Braxton hicks contractions as last week. Going to bed at 9:00 and considering it normal

What I'm looking forward to the most: buying a swing and a new diaper bag. I need to really decide on a theme for the office/nursery. I am thinking more about Jay’s sports room instead and that is fun, but this new baby needs some of my creativity too.
Also, even though breastfeeding was hard and somewhat painful at the beginning, I grew to love it even thought I wasn’t exclusively breastfeeding last time. I wonder if it was because it was one of the only ways to keep Jay from crying when he was so colicky, or if it was a nice bonding experience for us. Either way, I hope it works out for this one too.

Worries: Glucose test at the end of the month…that stuff is not good tasting, but I remember it being not as bad as I thought it was going to be last time…let’s hope it is the same way this time. Also, I am trying to remember what my sister said last time about how to pass the test. I remember she told me some things to eat and not eat (but I can’t remember what) and that instead of sitting down after I drink the stuff, I should walk around. I did and I passed. Any other advice? I am hoping for an under 8lb baby (because they are sooo cute when they are tiny), but I’m sure either way he will look super tiny compared to Jay:)

What is different this time around: Thinking about how we are going to do everything with 2 kids. More about how I am going to do everything with 2 kids this summer when John works 6 days a week.
This time I get more of a say in the name. I am still trying to come up with good middle names, and I’m not sure we have found one. I kind of want to stick with one syllable for the middle name. I welcome any ideas, but it is hard because I’m not sharing the first name;)

Symptoms: I had a headache yesterday which I think was associated with neck and slight back pain. I am putting a wedge by my belly at night to help me sleep better. Other symptoms- Pregnancy brain: Today I had a bunch of extra bags and I had to take Jay to the babysitter which John usually does in the morning. When I finally got to school I realized I forgot my “school bag” at home with my lunch, my shoes (I was wearing boots), my keys, my hat and gloves, my snacks. Grrr. Then I found out we were celebrating my birthday (random) so I went down to the lounge to check out the snacks: coffee, chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, chocolate and strawberries. All my favorites, but since I can’t eat coffee or chocolate when I am pregnant (it gives me heartburn) I stuck with strawberries and went to the closest convenience store for some more food. I bought a burrito (which was too spicy so I gave it away), some yogurt (for 1.09), and a donut (which was heavenly!)
So back to symptoms: Heartburn is a big one. I really like eating red sauce and tomatoes, but it is not an option right now.

Sleep: Some nights I will be a light sleeper, and some nights I will have crazy dreams and I can’t believe it is 6:10 when my alarm clock goes off

Movement: Big kicks- and many times throughout the day. I can’t remember if I felt Jay this much –this early –especially during the day while I was teaching.

Hmmm not sure about that, but I am still eating right now to be functioning and not nauseous, so that is what I will continue.

Milestones: Hmm…I loved saying “both my boys are kicking at once” tonight when Jay was kicking and baby was kicking in my tummy.
Jay can pretend to feed the baby (our mini-cabbage patch doll) with a fake bottle I got:)
Amusing comments from the general public: A first grader said to me today “are you getting a baby?”

Best moment of the week: Laughing with Jay. I love the baby in my tummy, but I am really savoring the moments that I can give all my attention to Jay and teach him things.
